Can I optimize my VLC player for watching IPTV?

To optimize your VLC player UPMaker IPTV recommends that you follow the following tips.

Step by Step Guide to Optimize Your VLC Media Player

Step 1: Open the VLC media player and click on the “Tools” tab. Now click on “Preference”.

Step 2: Now click on “All” which is a tab you can find on the “Show Settings” option (Scroll down to the bottom of the window to find the Show settings option). Now navigate to the left sidebar and click on the “Input/Codecs” tab.

Step 3: If you open the file from a local hard drive and find it buffering, scroll to the right side and find the “Advanced tab. Look for “File caching (ms)”. VLC media player estimates the caching value in milliseconds and hence a 1000 value will buffer the player for 1 second. However, if you decide to set this number too high, you will experience huge lags when you need to manually skip the file as you will have to wait for the content to be buffered.

Note that If your file in on a network share, you need to change its caching value from the “Network Caching (ms)” tab.
